An alloy is a mixture of metal combined with iron. Alloy is metallic in nature. The alloy has good electrical conductivity. Alloy another name is metal bar stock. Alloy names also variers according to their shapes. Alloy also comes in different sizes and is used for various purposes.

Aluminum Alloy Rods

Cobalt Alloy Rods

  • Cobalt alloy rods are used for commercial, industrial, and military purposes. Cobalt alloy rods have excellent hardness and are used mostly in high and elevated temperatures. If there is a large amount of chromium present in cobalt that offers more hardness and strength. Cobalt alloy rods come in different dimensions, specifications, grades, and thicknesses and can be used as per the requirements.

Magnesium Alloy Rods

  • Magnesium alloy is an alloy composed of magnesium and other elements. It is characterized by low density, high specific strength, has good shock absorption, greater impact load capacity than aluminum alloy, and good resistance to organic and alkali corrosion. The important alloying elements of magnesium alloys are aluminum, zinc, manganese, cerium, thorium, and a little amount of zirconium or cadmium. Magnesium alloy rod is  applied in magnesium alloy as raw material. 

  • Characteristics/Features of Magnesium Alloy Rods

  • They are very low density, have good shock absorption performance, good electrical and thermal conductivity.

  • Magnesium alloy is poor corrosion resistance, easy to be oxidized, easy to burn, and heat resistant.

  • The processing and corrosion and mechanical properties have many characteristics such as fast heat dissipation, lightweight, good rigidity, certain corrosion resistance and dimensional stability, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, good attenuation performance, and easy recycling.

  • Magnesium alloy rods are high thermal and electrical conductivity, non-magnetic, good shielding, and non-toxic.

  • Application of Magnesium Alloy Rods

  •  They are the best in inner tank material which is used in the water heater, and the corrosion of the inner tank cannot be avoided. They are used to protect the inner tank and heating pipe of the water heater, many manufacturers install magnesium rods for the water heater. This extends the service life of the electric water heater.

  • Magnesium rods applied for batteries, such as the negative electrode of an air battery, form the current and voltage with the positive zinc anode to make extremity lighting and backup power supplies for the electrical appliances.

  • ​Magnesium rods for outdoor life-saving lighting. The U.S. military designated to use the magnesium rods for ignition, taking advantage of the activity and they are very easy to preserve the magnesium rods.​
